The Story Behind Ida Lee: Where Magic Meets Legac

The Story Behind Ida Lee: Where Magic Meets Legac

Years ago, while going through my grandfather's belongings with my grandmother, I found something extraordinary tucked away in his drawer—a gold pocket chain with his name spelled out in letters, each one forming the links.

My grandmother had made it for him decades earlier, a gift born from love and practicality: she didn't want him to lose his wallet while flying across the world as a pilot. It was protection. It was devotion. It was a way of saying, I'm with you, even when you're far from home.

The moment I lifted that chain from the drawer, I didn't see a pocket accessory. I saw a necklace. Without thinking, I put it around my neck—and instantly, I knew.

Everyone deserves to wear what's closest to their heart.

The Birth of Ida Lee Designs

I carried that knowing with me for years. The vision was clear: custom necklaces where people could inscribe their own magic—the names, words, dates, and codes that mattered most. But I didn't know how to bring it to life.

Then, at a gallery opening for my paintings, a woman noticed the necklace I was wearing—my grandfather's chain, still around my neck. She asked about it. I told her the story, and how I'd always wanted to make these for others.

She smiled and said, "I'm a jewelry designer. I'll help you."

That woman was Noel, and she became my creative partner. Together, we've built Ida Lee Designs—a line of bespoke necklaces named after my grandmother, Ida Lee, and rooted in her belief that love can be carried, worn, and passed down.

Anchoring Magic Into the Physical World

Every Ida Lee necklace begins with a question: What do you want to remember you hold?

Some clients choose the names of their children or parents.
Some choose words from hymns, poems, or songs that saved them.
Some choose nicknames, inside jokes, or codes only they understand.
Some choose reminders of their own magic—like my necklace, which reads NIGHT RAINBOW MAGIC, words from a childhood book that still make me feel wonder.

These aren't decorations. They're amulets.

They anchor your magic into the physical world. They remind you, every single day, of the lineage you carry, the power you hold, and the beauty that's always been yours.

Welcome to the Ida Lee Family

When you wear an Ida Lee necklace, you're not just wearing jewelry. You're joining a lineage of women (and men) who understand that meaning matters. That beauty is never frivolous. That what we carry close to our hearts shapes how we move through the world.

May your necklace bring you home to yourself, again and again.

With magic and gratitude,
Alison Scherr
